Erie Glass is a glazing and fabrication company located in Chatham, Ontario. We supply and install commercial windows, curtain wall, storefronts, glass showers, and door hardware.
JOB PURPOSE
Erie Glass is looking for a general labourer to join our team. Work is completed at the shop or on job sites and therefore applicants must have a valid license and reliable transportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks will change day to day. Some days will be in the shop and others will be on the road. Tasks can include:
· Reading work orders to prepare glass
· Assist Glazier and Metal Mechanics
· Measure, cut, install and replace glass in commercial and residential settings
· Use lifts and appropriate equipment to lift/move glass and metal
· Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolds, rigging and hoisting equipment
· Position glass panes into frames and secure glass using clips, points or mouldings
· Fabricate metal frames for glass installation
· Install, fit, fabricate and attach metal frames in commercial and residential buildings
· Repair and service residential windows, commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures, and replace damaged glass or faulty sealant
· Install custom glass railing systems and accessories
· Install custom mirrors, and mirror walls
· May prepare cost estimates for customers or clients
· Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· General labour (construction) experience: 2+ years
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 75-100lbs due to frequent lifting of metal and glass
· Able to problem solve and follow direction
· Able to work independently and with a team
· Must bring own hand tools, power tools will be provided
· Must have appropriate work boots
· Experience in glazier and metal mechanic work is an asset
LICENSES/CERTIFICATION
· Ontario Driver’s license required with a reliable motor vehicle due to daily travel to job sites
· Working at heights preferred but not required
· Forklift training an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· The hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Some overtime or weekend emergency work may be required
· This position is fully in-person, no remote work available
· Must be able to start at Chatham location daily
· Most work is done between Windsor, Chatham, London and Sarnia
· Personal protective equipment must be worn as required
· This job requires frequent heavy lifting of a minimum of 75-100lbs
